Llanwonno Energy

Llanwonno Energy is an innovative renewable energy scheme that would intertwine the generation of wind and solar power to bring a wide range of benefits to the local area.

The project is currently undergoing examination by Welsh Government before a final decision is made.

Overview

Llwyncelyn Wind

A local, community energy scheme for Rhondda Cynon Taf, in 2017 we were granted planning permission for two wind turbines to be installed at Llwyncelyn Farm, near Porth.

Work on the turbines was completed in 2024, with the turbines now supplying clean, green power for use in the local area.

You can view pictures of the project here.

Community

Central to all of the projects we undertake is a commitment to ensuring we provide benefit to the communities in which we operate.

This includes supporting local clubs, groups and associations that support community well-being, and where possible utilising local products and services.

To date, we’ve been delighted to support a number of community initiatives, including Ynyshir Football Club, Porth Harlequins, Pendyrus Male Choir, Tylorstown RFC, Woodpeckers Men Shed, Porth AFC, World of Words and Ynyshir Brass Band.

Should our proposals gain approval, we look forward to working with the local community to greatly increase the support and assistance we are able to provide throughout the area.

Tomorrow's Wales

We believe that the transition to renewable energy is essential for ensuring a sustainable, secure, and healthy future, leaving behind the Wales we want for generations to come.

Education

We believe helping future generations understand the need for changes in the way we live is essential.

As part of our commitment to help understand this need, we will be offering all Year 6 pupils from schools within 5km of Llanwonno Energy a free educational visit to our Parc Stormy HQ in Bridgend, as well as covering any transport costs.

So far, we’ve been delighted to welcome pupils from Cwmlai Primary School, Ysgol Nantgwyn Primary, Alaw Primary, Hendreforgan Primary, Tref-Y-Rhyg Primary, Pontygwaith Primary, Hafod Primary School and YGG Llwyncelyn.
